DAY-1: Mobile & Handheld Learning
Educating the “A for Apps” Generation
Friday, 9th December 2011
We are now in an information society that creates about 2 exabytes of data every day. Information processing and access tools are much more readily available and learners will soon have tablets in their hands. The principle of freedom of learner choice will drive a model of CYOLD (Choose Your Own Learning Device), that will result in the classroom having devices ranging from the Government sponsored Aakash to the aspirational iPad and a whole range in between.
Live LearningTM in the classroom requires using these in a pedagogical sound manner, with the teacher playing multiple roles of curator, creator, coach, mentor and motivator all converged in one. A very challenging but exciting place to be in. We need to ensure that 'No Teacher is Left Behind' in this exciting journey.
The following program is designed as the first step towards this and once the glimpse of this exciting future is seen, it will be followed up with appropriate programs to include all educators.
